The Smiths (Self titled)
(For Grading purposes this album has been played before listing)
12” Album – Original Picture Inner sleeve + POSTER
Rough Trade Records
Catalogue number: Rough 61
UK First Pressing
I have played both sides of the album through fully and I’m happy to say the audio was excellent. Both sides do have some marks but they did not show up during playback. The sleeve is in great shape, so is the inner sleeve. This comes with an advertising poster for the album that is in very good condition. Please read on to see more information below. Additional pictures in eBay gallery.Thank you
Sleeve
A well looked after sleeve that grades as Excellent plus. No sticker marks or names, no creasing or splits. Spine is solid and in excellent shape. There is pretty much no rubbing to any of the edges and the corners look great, with virtually no wear.
The Picture inner sleeve
I would grade this excellent plus had it not been for a small 1cm tear to the opening edge which brings it down to Very good. No splits or creases.
Labels are in excellent condition. Mark free aside from light spindle marks.
Side one matrix / stampers: Rough 61 – A2. Tilutnm(?) etched V.
Side one
Audio is excellent. No jumps, pops, clicks. Visually it grades Excellent minus. Generally clean some light marks and small superficial scratches.
Side two matrix / stampers: Rough 61 – B2. 1.T/ V
Side two
Again great sounding audio, grades excellent. Visually there are again some light marks and a couple of superficial scratches that haven’t showed up during playback. Visually it grades Very good.
Poster
Included with this album is an original advertising poster for the album. It has been folded into quarters to enable it to be fitted into the sleeve. It is approx. 34cm (W) x 60cm (L). It is in very good plus condition. It appears never to have been hung as there are tiny pinholes in the corners. It does have some mild creasing and there is a small 8mm tear at one side. Over all it looks, and grades Very Good.
Over all this is still a great playable copy of this classic album with decent sound quality and a fantastic selection of tracks. A stunning debut album.
GRADING
I use the U.K Rare Record Guide grading system detailed below.
MINT The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
POSTAGE
All records come with a protective poly sleeve, and new white inner. Records are shipped outside of the sleeve within reinforced cardboard packaging to ensure safety during transit.
