THE SMOKE ' IF THE WEATHER'S SUNNY ' / ' I WOULD IF I COULD BUT I CAN'T ' . RARE ORIGINAL UK COLUMBIA LABEL SINGLE BY UK 1960's MOD / POPSIKE LEGENDS . A BRILLIANT SWINGING 60's DOUBLE SIDED 45 .
UK Columbia Records . Cat # DB 8252 . Matrix 7 XCA 31616 - 1 J / 7 XCA 31617 - 1 J . Issued 1967 First pressing with ' Sold In UK Subject' silver print on label . Collectable ORIGINAL UK 7" by THE SMOKE ' If The Weather's Sunny ' / ' I Would If I Could But I Can't ' . The record has been well played and both sides have light surface marks / scuffs , there is some surface noise on the run in / out grooves , but no jumps or sticks, overall i would grade the disc VG + . This CLASSIC UK 60's 45 doesn't need much introduction to serious popsike / freakbeat fans , a real gem of a single .This was the 2nd SMOKE single on Columbia produced by the great Monty Babson and is now very hard to find . The Smoke on this single moved into Small Faces territory aka ' Lazy Sunday ' style but the record didn't sell and very rarely turns up for sale . Both sides are FANTASTIC SUMMER OF 67' GREAT POPSIKE GEMS , certainly one of my favourites from the 60's . If you haven't already got this in your collection now is a great chance to own a genuine UK original 1967 copy . Both sides of this 45 have been compiled on various 60's freakbeat compilations down the years . This 45 is essential for fans / collectors of the UK 60's mod / popsike scene . The single comes in it's original Columbia records company sleeve .
