‘VOLUMES ONE & TWO’
Original 1973 1st Issue UK Pressed Double Stereo Lp Housed In A Gatefold Sleeve.
A Combination Of Their First Two Studio Albums On One Double Lp Set (This Was The First Time Volume 1 Was Made Available To The UK Market As It Was Originally A US Issue Only). Their First (Originally Titled The Soft Machine, From 1968), Recorded With The Trio Of Wyatt, Ratledge, And Ayers, Combines Goofy Humor, Psychedelia, And Some Free Jazz Into An Erratic But Invigorating Brew That Was Comparable To Little Else In The Late-'60s Rock World. Ayers Had Left To Be Replaced By Hugh Hopper For 1969's Volume Two, Which Took A Definite Spin Toward Jazz And Increasingly Surrealistic Material, Stringing Together Whimsical Bits And Pieces For Side-Long Suites. Not As Pop-Oriented As Their Initial 1967 Recordings Or As Jazz-Oriented As Their Final Albums With Wyatt, The Material Compiled Here Is Perhaps The Best Representation Of The Soft Machine's Accomplishments.
The Lp Set Was Released On The Yellow ‘Probe’ Label (gtt 2041) And Comes To Auction In Ex+/Ex+/Ex+ Condition

MINT……The Record Itself Is In Brand New Condition With No Surface Marks Or Deterioration In Sound Quality. The Cover And Any Extra Items Such As The Lyric Sheet, Booklet Or Poster Are In Perfect Condition. Records Advertised As Sealed Or Unplayed Should Be Mint.
EXCELLENT……The Record Shows Some Signs Of Having Been Played, But There Is Very Little Lessening In Sound Quality. The Cover And Packaging Might Have Slight Wear And/Or Creasing.
VERY GOOD+ ……The Record Has Obviously Been Played Many Times, But Displays No Major Deterioration In Sound Quality, Despite Noticeable Surface Marks And The Occasional Light Scratch. Normal Wear And Tear On The Cover Or Extra Items, Without Any Major Defects, Is Acceptable.
