THE SPECIALS: More Specials (Two Tone, CHR TT5003, 1980, LP)
The sticker that used to seal the LP is still in place if cut to get the record out. This does ***NOT*** include the free single or poster.
Rather a good LP - that is an example of understatement, by the way. Rico and Dick make it very special, of course. So, this is the tricksy second album and a lot of fans didn't like it, what with elements of easy listening and even a dash of Harry Stoneham-style organ (which is not necessarily synonemous with easy listening). What we have here though is a more satisfying LP than the first - it has certainly aged well thanks to the experimentation.
The sleeve has some creasing and laminate lifting, plus some flip-back and general age staining - see the photos. The record plays at EX. A very nice playing copy.
The free LP is at least half nice! The sleeve is VG though with some creasing at top-right corner, front. The record has some light marks one side 1 but plays at a nice EX with just a few light pops here and there, except for Too Hot where there is a short scratch that causes some repeating clicks. Side 2 is where things go downhill with some heavier marks which cause at least two skips on the first track, after which I gave up playing it. Assume some background and possibly some skips. So here it is free
* * * * Records generally have hairline or other surface marks from removal from/insertion into sleeves - these are not mentioned unless causing audible noise. Records are play tested unless stated and any defects over and above what should be expected of the generic Record Collector grading are described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves, etc.
UK bidders please note that eBay now has a 'closed box' invoicing system to which I have no access. I am blocked from viewing the process until payment has been made, so have no idea up front how the company deals with the buyer winning multiple items or what it charges you for postage in that instance.
Non-UK bidders please note that I use eBay's Global Shipping Programme, which means that I have no knowledge of what extra charges eBay makes based on your country's customs requirements, etc. Everything goes via eBay's distribution centre in Lichfield. All I get to see is your name and a reference number.
* * * * All items are from my own various collections and most have been in storage for 20+ years. Lockdowns (and various heart ops.) made me wonder why I have thousands of records that I will never choose to listen to again.
