(originally released in May 1967 this is a late 60s/very early 70s pressing as it is issued in the original flipback sleeve but the labels no longer carry the "Sold In UK" text which was removed in July 1969)

THE LP IS HOUSED IN THE AFOREMENTIONED ORIGINAL ISSUE, FRONT LAMINATED FLIPBACK SLEEVE "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending" AND COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL EMI COMPANY ADVERTISING INNER SLEEVE

Anchored by two of their most popular recordings, "You Keep Me Hanging On," and "Love Is Here and Now You're Gone," this LP features all Holland, Dozier & Holland (HDH) compositions and productions, and it ranks among their best.
The Supremes' renditions of songs popularised by label mates illustrate the interchangeability of HDH's songs. Ross's soprano may not have the bite of Ron Isley's tenor, but she still does a better than average job on "I Guess I Always Love." Two Four Tops' remakes, 'I'll Turn to Stone," and "The Same Old Song," are just as groovy as the originals. An update of Martha & Vandellas' "Love Is Like a Heat Wave" fails to live up to the dynamics of the original. The Vandellas' version was special, while this one comes off like another song for the session. "Mother You, Smother You" is too formulaic, but the singing and lyrics places it well above what other girl groups were releasing at the time. Ditto for "Going Down for the Third Time." A Supremes' album track would be an A-side for most artists.
The prolific writers did an excellent job, which turned out to be the last of the great Supremes albums.
This was the group's final album fully overseen by the songwriting team. Within months of its release, the trio would stage a work slowdown in protest to Motown CEO's Berry Gordy's business decisions and by the end of 1967, H-D-H had departed Motown, but not before producing four final Supremes singles ("The Happening", "Reflections", "In and Out of Love", and "Forever Came Today").

VINYL Visual: The surfaces are CLEAN and BRIGHT with their original DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN and have just a few light marks which have little audio consequence - the LP sounds great throughout
VINYL Audio: OUTSTANDING audio delivery - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY STRONG, FRESH, IMMEDIATE sound. On playback at a LOUD volume there are NO scratches, NO jumps, NO sticks and NO clicks or pops. The LP plays to an impressively high standard with NO real discernible groove-wear or distortion and is graded a strong EXCELLENT for audio - LOVELY COPY
SLEEVE: The 1st issue FRONT LAMINATED, FLIPBACK G&L sleeve is in lovely condition with a BEAUTIFUL DEEP GLOSS to the front laminate (with some very light record impression) and a remarkably CLEAN back. The spine displays all text CLEAR and BOLD (with just some light creases) and the edges are practically UNWORN - EXCELLENT+ VERY NICE COPY INDEED
