WOW!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original Producciones FERMATA Marca Registrada Records (FERMATA Records) very first MONO press released in Chile in 1968 by Fermata Records, made by RCA Records and distributed by Corporación De Radio De Chile S.A. (CRC Records), licensed from the Brazilian Fermata serie “RGE PAGE ONE RECORDS”, catalog number LF-138-X, with hand etched matrix numbers LF 138 A EB in Side 1 and LF 132 B EB in Side 2, with traditional white/black Fermata labels with red “Fermata” logo. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!!

“CELLOPHANE” was originally released in 1967 and we had to wait until 1968 to see this great album by The Troggs released here in Chile, even though very few copies were pressed, sure those hundreds copies were better than nothing, and like in so many cases of the period we got it with an UNIQUE COVER!!! Cover is made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle, so 3 sides are open, with 2 sheets of paper for front and back cover, attached to the cardboard (only partially glued in the mouth edge) and kept together for an outer plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork with the photo of the band covered by a cellophane, with album title written in Spanish only and tracklist written in Spanish only, with Fermata Records logo at bottom left corner and Page One Records logo at bottom right corner. Back cover is different, it keeps the same black and white photo of the band of original UK press but all the rest is totally different, with tracklist written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters. In labels the album title changes to only “The Troggs” (!!!), with tracklist written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters. You could think the fact to have the labels with the name of the album “the Troggs”, the fact to be a MONO press and the fact to have a different back cover, could make this MEGARARE Chilean press a rarity, please, check and compare with the original tracklist in this link: http://www.discogs.com/Troggs-Cellophane/release/3186369. Yes Sirs, in Chile we got this album with an UNIQUE EDITED TRACKLIST, songs are in different order!!!

So, yes Sirs, here you have a chance to get this classic rock album in the RAREST PRESS possible to find, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER, MEGARARE MONO PRESS, UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE (“The Troggs”) in labels and UNIQUE EDITED TRACKLIST!!! WOW!!! INCREDIBLE FIND and WHAT A SUPERB CONDITION!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG- or VG condition the front cover, clear and clean, with only minimal wear and a little rip in mouth edge, some creases and the right top corner missed, the cardboard is broken and the sheet of paper (thanks to a very bad idea of some past owner) was partially cut, and in EX or EX+ condition the back cover, with some age browning and minimal wear in the mouth edge and corners, no bends, no writings, no blemishes, a seam split in the cardboard, not really a spine, so it doesn’t really affect the great look. The record is in great VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with loads of scuffs, hairlines and soft scratches, which of course don’t affect play. Labels on both sides are in EX- or EX condition both sides, with minimal spindle hole wear, a little mark of humidity in Side 1 and a black mark in Side 2, some past owner had the bad idea to erase a name written there. The sound is in absolute and superb VG+ or EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with some soft crackles here and there and barely audible occasional light pops, more evident in the silent parts, which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this album keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, not a record for Minty minds or audiophiles, but still a great record if you know the level of rarity this Chilean press keeps, with a nice glossy look, with a nice cover and still superb sound quality after almost 50 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!! And keep in mind this record has an UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER, UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE IN LABELS, it’s a MONO PRESS and it has an EDITED TRACKLIST only used here in Chile!!! Maybe you won’t see another copy in this great condition again!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
