This is a "FIRST AVAILABLE LP" by special arrangement with the U.S. Department of Defense. 1963, in the year of RFK's assassination, is quoted on the back of the album as so: "The United States Marine Band is called "The President's Own." President Kennedy recently said, 'The Marine Band is the only military force that cannot be transferred from the Washington area without my express permission. Let it be hereby announced that we, the Marine Band and I, propose to hold the White House against all odds at least for some time to come.'" "Lieutenant Colonel Albert F. Schoepper occupies the highest post a Marine musician may attain. For nearly three decades he has performed as soloist and conductor before kings, queens, and presidents. He has been Director of the band for nearly eight years." [excerpt from back of album].......The playlist includes: Side One - Marines' Hymn, Semper Fidelis, Bugler's Holiday, Commando March, March of the Women Marines, March of the Olympians and Side Two - Stars and Sripes Forever, The Chimes of Liberty, American Patrol, America the Beautiful, The Star-Spangled Banner.
