Description
Very rare 1971 MGM Records, the 2nd UK pressing of the VU's 3rd self titled album, in Lou Reed's "closet mix" version (the 1st UK press used the other, more commonly used, mix). Gorgeously warm analog sound on the UK vinyl, quite possibly the best ever version of this all-time classic.
*PLEASE NOTE*- VPI cleaned, Side 1 of the record is in excellent to near mint condition, very clean. Unfortunately, Side 2 has a large and nasty sounding concentric scratch in the middle of "Beginning to See the Light" that pretty much ruins the song (hence the heavily discounted price). I assume its some one-of-a kind pressing flaw. There are also 2 very visible marks that cause fairly loud ticks for about 30 seconds each during "I'm Set Free". The rest of that song and the rest of Side 2 play really good. But this copy might not be for you if your favorite song is "Beginning to See the Light" or "I'm Set Free".
The beautiful matte cover is in strong VG+ condition, just a little edge wear and some light ring wear, still looks fantastic for its age.
Packed and shipped with care. You can combine any records I am selling for a significant shipping discount. Thanks.
