THIS WEIGHS A SUPER HEAVY 950gm with a decent mailer and two bits of card. SO it will be heavy to post. Please make sure you understand this and feel free to ask Qs. Ta.

THE VITAMIN B12 is Alasdair Willis, a musician who plays a lot of instruments, and acts as an instigator, collaborator, and general genial refusenik in the fair seaside city of Brighton.

All Tomorrow’s Parties has said this on their website:

Reclusive Brighton based author of contemporary surrealist artifacts. "I cannot deny that the possibility of performing at All Tomorrow’s Parties filled me with more than a little apprehension. The Vitamin B12 is anything but a festival act, scarcely a band, more a gathering of diverse individuals with a connecting interest in investigating the world through sound. The thought of having to entertain people who have paid good money to be seated before us seems more than a little perverse." (Artist’s words).

That would be nice to leave alone but a few more words for the few of you who have come this far. The Vitamin B12 has been in operation since the mid 1990s. Releases have been self-made and often self-distributed, often in very limited editions. Occasionally his work gets released on a label like Qbico, itself so far below the mainstream radar as to be nearly invisible. Sometimes all the music is by Willis, often there are like-minded collaborators. The entire work, usually only on vinyl, often more than one LP, is always beautifully presented, all sleeve artwork by Willis. His very first release was a quadruple LP, maybe called “4 LP BOX” – maybe not, in an edition of 10 which claimed some small fame because it was included in The Wire’s Lost Artifacts article. Only one person I’ve met has ever seen a copy.

For your perusal here is a triple LP. It is titled “Candy” and was issued in an edition of 300 copies. The vinyl is housed in a stunning heavy card double gatefold, and the artwork is jaw-droppingly beautiful. (Indeed this may be the most beautiful artifact in my record collection, but I'm broke). There is a single sheet which gives you a tracklist. Alisdair was not alone on this recording which is perhaps why the sound palette is wider than it is on his 2000 "gatefold set" 2-LP - for example. The tracks stretch out longer too. Anyway the Vitamin B12 were on this occasion AW, Ian Cordell (DJ Ordeal), Shigeru Ishihara (DJ Scotch Egg), David Ewan Campbell, Frantisek Sic, Kulo Murgugaiyan, Stephen Drennan, and Paul Morgan.
