A rare item with all the right credentials. The buff card sleeve carries the BLACK title stamp - and not the blue or red of later issues. The record labels text is in LIGHT BLUE - not dark blue as in later issues. All 12 INSERTS are present and in excellent condition. Of great interest is always the famous 'MARQUEE' poster which is often missing. This one has clearly never been stuck-up on a wall - and bears no tape or pin marks. It has a slight sheen which indicates the original as later copies were matt in appearance.* The vinyl is an A1 / B1 ORIGINAL PRESS. *
Condition: The buff card stapled sleve is excellent, with no tears, no creasing, no unwanted stickers or biro marks etc. This soft card was always susceptible to damage and ageing stain. This one has some areas of very slight age yellowing (nothing serious). I would grade as excellent. **In 2003, the album was ranked number 170 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatesr albums of all time.** **Released as Track 2406 001 on May 23, 1970. It reached #3 in the U.K. [and remained in the charts for 21 weeks, the longest for any Who LP in Britain.** **Sleeve design by Graphreaks [It was designed to resemble a bootleg. A press release claimed that the emblem on the cover would be hand stamped by band members and others in the Track Records office.** Condition - Cover: EXCELLENT. Record: Difficult to grade as this was recorded to sound like a bootleg with deteriorated sound quality, especially at the start. All copies I have ever had sound like this and the label (in Pete Townhend's writing, says "Crackling Noises OK- Do not correct". I will grade as Excellent, there is 1 faint mark which does not sound. Labels are EXCELLENT in light blue writing. Check out my other items!
