Description

This is an original 1st UK Vinyl pressing of the classic album by The Who - Live at Leeds
On Track Records (Super) ref 2406 001 Matrices are A1//B1 so very first press The sleeve has the RED writing on the front sleeve but BLACK writing on the inner of the gatefold - plus.... this is a complete set!!!!!!! all 12 inserts!!
Beautifully put together, The Who issued this to look like a bootleg album, they also included SEVERAL extras (see below)
Grading
The Record: This would be a solid VG but there is a tiny scratch on the quiet part of the My Generation medley which jumps twice which is a shame Other than that there are some light surface marks and crackling which I can never work out if its supposed to be there given the label instruction.. "Crackling Noises OK - Do NOT correct" ...make of that what you will but questions welcome
Labels are clean and free from writing though do have some spindlewear
The Sleeve: Gatefold Sleeve is the matt cardboard Beadrell Sutcliffe designed with RED writing, made by Graphreaks - Black writing on the inner The sleeves were hand stamped by staff at the McNeil prints which is why you see varying uneven-ness in the writing between copies.  Its a solid EX, some slight creasing and a little discolouring with age  - stapled as you'd expect
Interestingly the previous owner has attached an actual concert ticket for The Who from the early 70s - 6th October at Sophia Gardens Cardiff - how cool is that!!
Ok lets look at the inserts.
1. The Who, Maximum R&B, Tuesdays at the Marquee, 90 Wardour Street - large poster - Nr Mint  2. The High Numbers account sheet (yellow) detailing fees from early gigs - Nr Mint 3. Thick glossy promo photo of the early Who - Nr Mint  4. Delivery note from Brocks Crystal Palace Fireworks for Smoke Generators - Nr mint 5. Lyrics for My Generation - Nr Mint  6. Folded picture of Pete Townshend in mid air on stage with Gibson SG aloft (Rear has scribbled notes for Were not gonna take it and Brian Carrol & The Playboys line up) - Nr Mint  7. New Action LTD Kit Lambert headed paper detailing gig fees and percentage cuts - Nr mint  8. County Court Notice from 9th March 1965 ordering the return of goods - VG as very small tear at top....unless its supposed to be like that  9. Cancellation letter from Kings Agency regarding a gig on 15th April 1965 - Nr Mint 10. Admissions note from Marquee club 1/12/1964 detailing £18 income of which the band get £1 or £2 each - Nr Mint  11. Copy of the contract for Woodstock - slight creasing so EX - according to Wiki only the first 500 had this particular insert!!!!!!!!...yellow 12. Letter from EMI asking for additional material for The High Numbers ...they couldnt decide if the band had anything to offer!! - Nr Mint
So 12 in total - absolutely complete!!
Inner sleeve is the correct poly lined, ref 800513 & 973939 - a little creased and discoloured but does it matter?
Tracks are ....
Young Man  Substitute Summertime Blues Shakin all Over
My Generation Magic Bus

I use the Record Collector Grading Criteria which is as follows:   Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be Mint.   Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.   Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.   Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
