THE WHO
MY GENERATION
1ST EVER 1965 BRUNSWICK LABELS
1ST MONO PRESS
CAT. NO. LAT 8616

A particularly rare 1st issue here having 1st ever 1B/ 1B matrices and Brunswick Labels. The sleeve is the matching 1st issue laminated with Clarifoll.
The sleeve is Very Good to very Good Plus. The edges and corners have some very light storage wear, but are all still well adhered and neat. The lamination has a very small amount of minor creases only. It retains its structural integrity, is clean and there is no writing and it is a very respectable 1st issue example. The rear panel is rather clear white with a feint record ring-wear outline.
The inner sleeve is the correct one for this issue - generally referred to as 'Decca Dots' paper with a poly-inner and 'Made In England' text and 'Patent Appled for' text. It is in Very Good condition with no splits etc and only minor signs of aging.
The vinyl itself is actually very respectable and plays well. I grade it as a strong Very Good, really verging on Very Good Plus. There are a fair amount of non-feelable hairlines mostly very small and feint, but no other blemishes. No needle drops, scratches, warping or groove wear, and nothing at all feel-able, nothing I would call a scratch, but at the same time not perfect, just quite nice. It retains a mirror-like jet black glossy pressing sheen; all over very glossy still and lies perfectly flat on the turntable.
The labels I also grade Very Good Plus. There is hardly any spindle point wear but there are a fair amount of line traces around it. No scuffing or writing or anything like that and the black background is still well toned and the silver font well retained.
It plays clearly and lucidly all of the way through with very little audible detraction. I only detected a audible few tics but certainly nothing overpowering. A few of the track change grooves have a few clicks, but I'm confident it won't cause disappointment. The very little background interference (or very little to none discernible), certainly no pops, or skips, or sticks etc. It is great to hear such depth to the bass and loud and raw vocals, and I would grade as Very Good Plus or better, and is something special listening to such an early rendition.

***************************************

I use the record collector grading guide and have very rarely ever had any disagreement over my grading from buyers.
The record will be extremely well protected using a professional LP mailer with a stiffener, and I add extra outer padding for overseas orders.
The vinyl will be removed from the original inner sleeve, placed in a new generic one and placed next to the main sleeve and will all be housed in a best on the market thumb-weld glass sleeve.
