Description

This LP vinyl is from my private collection, which I am now selling off, all of which I bought new in the 60's onwards, and it has not been played for about 30+ years, until now.

I have visually graded this record using the Goldmine Standard grading system. Although I have also playgraded it on my home set-up (Pioneer deck+Cambridge pre-amp (recently aquired), Denon AVR receiver, with Kef speakers), I consider that I have been very honest, and not over-graded it. Photos can never do justice to the condition of a record, so I've tried to describe the vinyl's condition as accurately and fairly as possible.

                                            ----------------------------------------------

Please see the photos that highlight aspects of the following descriptions.

This is an ORIGINAL MONO pressing of the The Who's debut album on Brunswick Records, released in Dec 1965. Issued with black Brunswick labels with silver print. The sleeve has 'Clarifoil' lamination on the front and 1cm onto the rear over the spine.

Catalogue number 'LAT 8616'.

The stamped matrix on the run-outs are -

Side A, MG-10256-1B
Side B, MG-10257-1B

The Vinyl

I'm grading this as VG+. It has some marks, light scuffing, and hairline scratches, when viewed under a strong light, but these do not affect the sound, and it plays very clearly, with very few surface noises/clicks etc, even between tracks. It still has a good glossy finish. The label however, has a few minor scuffs near the centre hole, and there is some writing visible on both sides, (see photos). If I was grading the label alone, it would be a VG.

The Sleeve

I'm grading this as G+. The front of the laminated cover shows only a few light 5-10mm long creases around the edges. The laminate is still good and glossy, but shows slight ring wear of the edge of the record. The spine is not worn, and the writing is clear. The opening is very slightly wrinkled, with some very light crushing of the edge. The back of the cover has some age related discolouration, plus ring wear. There is also a black felt pen panel near the top left corner.

The inner sleeve is the original vinyl-lined paper sleeve with printed text. It also has a small black felt pen panel on it. It is quite creased but not split, except there is a tear in the paper near the central circular 'window'.

The album will be sent in a sturdy purpose made LP album packaging, with added card stiffeners, and marked 'FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT BEND'. The vinyl will be sent in a new inner polylined paper sleeve, but separate to the main outer sleeve, to avoid damage from movement in transit. The album's original inner sleeve will be included. The album will then be enclosed in a polythene album outer sleeve.

I think this is a great example of an original classic.

UK postage will be '1st Class Signed For'.
