There is a rare uniqueness to this particular White Label Promo that is rarely found, as there are 10 tracks on side one, as opposed to only 6 tracks that you find on the other Decca 'Sell Out' promos. See pics to see the difference.
The Who Sell Out LP '68 white label promo-only banded US Decca, with hype sticker and rare red 'sample sticker' on rear. This is the rarest version of this album with the commercials and revised track listing. Unlike the commercial issue, the promo has the songs separated (banded for easy airplay) and in a slightly different order. The satiric cover is a beauty in Excellent condition with just a few corner bumps. NO seam splits, NO repaired splits, NO writing, NO rips/tears, NO glue. Even has the original Decca inner sleeve that advertises Decca artists.

The White Label Promo is EX with some hairlines/scuffs with No skips. The White labels are pristine and free from marks of any kind including NO writing, NO rips/tears, NO stickers/glue residue and NO fading.
The Ultra Rare Hype Sticker is crisp, clean & clear with no marks of any kind. Super Mega Rare Red 'Sample Copy' hype is intact with some rubbing scuffs.

These are incredibly difficult to find and near impossible to find in this amazing condition. Very few stereophonic LPs were pressed and very few exist to this day, and you almost never see a stereophonic Promo for sale.

The Who 'Sell Out' was recorded in England in 1967 and released in the U.S. on January 6th,1968

You could call the album cover for The Who Sell Out (1967) tongue-in-cheek, but that would imply some sort of subtlety on behalf of the British rockers. The Who may have been the ultimate "stick it to the man" band of the 1960s, even when they enjoyed substantial commercial success. The problem with being an anti-corporate band that's immensely popular, though, is that over time your rebellious anti-whatever attitude is eventually bought and sold, turned into a brand. What was Pete Townshend, at the height of the Who's popularity, but a windmilling advertisement for rock and roll? What was Keith Moon but an Animal from the Muppet-esque endorsement of rock debauchery?
With The Who Sell Out, the band managed to both play the game by acknowledging the inevitable co-option of their style and attitude, while also creating a cover that pokes fun at the ludicrous nature of commercialized music. Four panels adorn the original LP, with all photographs taken by David Montgomery. The farce of the cover is the fact that the branding is so outsize that it's practically cartoonish. Pete Townshend is seen with a giant roll of Odorono deodorant, and even wrote "Odorono" for the album, a song about a man named Mr. Davidson who leans in to kiss a female singer before being completely turned off by her body odor (I wish I was making that up). Keith Moon is seen applying Medac to a disgusting pimple and John Entwistle is dressed in leopard skin with a tall blonde while the caption proclaims the wonders of the Charles Atlas weightlifting program. It's all a big joke, partly a dissection of capitalism and partly an understanding that it's nearly impossible to evade the system.
While the cover, and the album more generally with all of its commercial jingles, is an extended gag, Roger Daltrey didn't find too much to laugh about while shooting the cover. On the front, he's immersed in a tub of Heinz baked beans holding an oversized can of the product. In an interview with the BBC a few years ago, Daltrey recalled that the shoot was horrendous, the effect of taking a baked-beans bath completely miscalculated. "I got pneumonia! The beans had just come out of the freezer." The beans had been shipped in "these two huge army-sized tins," ice-cold, but they had to shoot anyways. "So to solve the problem, someone stuck an electric fire up my arse at the back of the tub. The back of me was cooking, and the front of me was freezing, and so I got pneumonia. To be fair, having electric fire up your arse is probably the most anti-sellout, rock-and-roll thing you could possibly do". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
