Hello there, and thank you for viewing my items!
Having had rather a lengthy hiatus, I'm back to sell more of my collection/ 2nd copies/ records I think might be of interest to others. In previous years I've sold very rare PROG, 60s, PUNK etc, ranging from cheap record right up to £1000 records, and have invariably got good feedback. However, having been away from selling for so long I realise I need to build up current positive feedback again, hence I'm listing many items at buy it now prices, please check out my current, and coming here at my other items! Or to get the heads up on my listings before others even add me to your favourites list!
Here we have the very rarest variant (as far as we know so far!), of this, the WHO'S first single for Reaction. This is the single that sparked all the controversy with their shunned previous label Brunswick where-bye they released a rerecording of Instant Party for the B-side of this single, and gave it the same name. Logic would suggest that they should be allowed to call a new version of their song the with the same name, and that's when most of these records were selling, as the court case loomed, they were made to replace the B-side with something else, but asthey had nothing, they gotthe astounding Graham Bond Organization to supply a B-side "Waltz For A Pig", under the Moniker of "THE WHO ORCHESTRA", this is a well worth having version,as it's about the only affordable and readily available 7" featuring the 60s line-up of the Graham Bond Organization, and it's a great track. However, after the court case, when the dust settled, Brunswick (Decca) had won, and The Who were forced not to use that name again for the song, so they defiantly did one last (extremely short-lived) poke-in-the-eye release of this single with the same original B-side as they started with, and that caused the controversy in the first place, but retitled it "CIRCLES". As I say, these were so very limited, as most fans had already bought this single (many of them twice to get each different song), and it was just a defiant gesture, that only very few were ever made. So few that many online catalogues fail to list this one!
This is a well played copy, however, it is a very highly sought after single, and one that most Who collections are lacking, therefore I offer it up here as a fine playing (with background noise) collection filling copy! Imentioned in another post that La-la-la-Lies, The Kids Are Alright, and The Last Time, are allhigh rankers for rarest 60s general Who releases, however, if we'relooking at variants, then this must surely be well in the mix, you very rarely see these come up for sale. So, whilst this isn't a museum piece, condition-wise, it still plays through, and here's your chance to fill a hole in your Who collection, that some collectors seem not to know even exists!
LABELS: VG-, The all important B-side label is the stronger of the two though, with just general ringwear, a little central spindle hole rub, and a "G" written at about 5 o'clock (please see photos). The A-side is the same as the original 1st release copies, and so is of less interest, but is in this case the weaker of the two, similar to the B-side, but with the addition of a small labelgraze/abbrasion on the central push-out disc, and a sticker stainat the 12 o'clock area. The central disc is firmly attached on all four prongs.
VINYL: Plays through with background noise and pops, selling as a playable filler only. Many surface marks, doesn't look like a lovely black mirror, a few more significant marks. The disc plays through, with background noise and pops/ticks. The main interest in this record is not as a playing copy, but is more for the rarity of the labels (though admittedly the better the condition overall, the more pricey and desirable these get- so here's your chance to get an affordable one!)
SLEEVE: I believe this is this records original sleeve, a plain white 60s wavy topped sleeve, (as you'll know Reaction produce company sleeves unfortunately!) A bit of wear and tear, but still holds together fine, without any tears/ signifficant stains, just handling wear really.
