Description

I have collected records since I was very young, however Iincreasingly I have realised that I have far too many, and so I have been slowly trying to rationalise my extensive collection over the years, I have sold many major rarities over the years, from major BEATLES and 60s rarities, through PUNK and PROG ROCK, CLASSICAL and BLUES. Basically I've had alot of very rare records and in dribs and drabs have sold them off. I've never had negative feedback, and had many repeat customers. I will only post completely insured and tracked.
This week I'm selling many Beatles/Kinks/Yardbirds Etc. 7" rarities.
Here we have the absolute rarest variation of THE WHO's 1966 single SUBSTITUTE on the new REACTION label. This was right in the middle of them leaving their previous record label, BRUNSWICK and moving to the hip new label, REACTION. The legal disputes surrounding this were longer and more arduous than I can take time to write about here, but the result was that there were three significant variations of this record, the most common has dark coloured labels like this, but whilst the A-side is credited as "Substitue", as is this copy, the B-side is credited as "Instant Party". The more sought after version is when they pulled the B-side and replaced it with "The Who Orchestra" (actually THE GRAHAM BOND ORGANIZATION!), and they were pressed on turquoise labels, but by far the rarest is this copy with "CIRCLES" credited on the B-side, these are always the ones missing from people's collections

RECORD CONDITION: VG-/VG, lots of surface marks, though all light, nothing deep that would significantly affect the audio, strong, loud recordings shine through, with just a bit of crackle at quieter points (and when are they on the average WHO single?!)
RECORD LABELS: VG-, these rich dark blue labels do show up ring-rub etc, and this one does have a bit of this, also light spindle trails near the central spindle holes, the A-side has a small abbrasion at about 7 o'clock, where it looks as if a small circular sticker has been removed. The all important B-side label is free of any abbrasions, and just has some ring-rub darkening etc. Completely free from grafitti etc.
