PLEASE NOTE NEW CONDITION INFO BELOW! The Who “Who’s Next” original Track Records LP 2408 102 DELUXE, superb condition, on the matt Track labels with very early A//4 B//3 stamper numbers, an extremely early pressing in almost new condition! This copy has “BILBO” hand-etched in the side 2 run-out groove. The vinyl is quite heavy compared to later copies, and has the matt labels over a contoured ridge near the run-out grooves. There are a few spindle traces, which show that the LP was played a few times, and the vinyl is almost totally un-marked! Hardly signs of any play if you didn’t look at the label centres! There are no scratches, there is one light scuff (see below), no hair line marks or anything! It’s a great copy! Perfect sound! No distortion or wear at all! The inner sleeve is in superb condition too, is poly lined, and shows only slight signs of age. Please read the additional info below at the very end of the listing, based on a full play and visual inspection. Early pressings of this LP do NOT all come with the so-called “head hunters” inner sleeve. I bought my personal copy of this LP on the day of release and it came in a poly lined bag like this one! This is original on some first pressings and all other early pressings. The first press sleeve has always been kept in a protective cover and looks almost new! It’s the best one I’ve seen in years. There are no marks or fading, and the sleeve still has the new lustre and flatness to it. There is one handling crease (very light) to the bottom right, and the lightest signs of being held a couple of times, otherwise it is as new! Perfectly flat and fresh! No wear other than the tiniest amount of rubbing, very very light, to the area where the record lies at the top of the sleeve. This could have been from when it was packed at the factory. Lovely first press “pinched” spine with no wear, and only a couple of handling creases that don’t spoil the effect! I describe the sleeve as looking almost new – really it looks about a week old – it has all of the new sheen, and almost un-noticeable handling creases. Overall, the LP is at least EX and you won’t be disappointed! A lot of sellers would rate this as near mint! Genuine excellent condition with only a few careful plays by its one owner! It must be worth the opening bid of £35.00 in this condition!! Let’s face it, its one of the best albums EVER by anyone!! What does £35.00 buy you these days?? Check my other auctions and feedback. I try to be accurate with my grading, and most people say the LPs are better than described. If I get it wrong, a refund is available, minus postage costs. You can’t go wrong. I ship worldwide, and at as near to cost as possible. I use professional packing materials, from recycled supplies, and refund any over payment in shipping if it happens. Please ask any questions before bidding. Payments must clear before shipping. Good Luck! PLEASE NOTE I HAVE JUST INSPECTED THE LP IN STRONG SUNLIGHT, AND GIVEN IT A FULL PLAY - THERE IS IMPORTANT INFO! The LP is still excellent but I would like everyone to be aware that there are two small issues! I've just played the LP through, and also had a rare ray of sunshine to check the condition again visually. I will describe everything honestly as follows - There are very few light spindle marks and it would appear that the record has been played at least several times, but very carefully. It is not in any way played to death, or even VG. The audio is not in any way distorted either, it is very clear and new, and generally sounds very crisp and with full definition. There are a couple of points that I must make, though; track one on side two has a scuff which is hardly visible. There are some extremely light high frequency crackles in this area (not many, maybe five or six, and not close together), but its hard to say that they will repeat each time, as this type of scuff doesn't always make a sound. Maybe the presumption that they are there permanently would be the safest option - but they are very light and faint, and perhaps a thorough clean would sort this out, I can't be sure. there is also a pop between the last two tracks on side one, which, after cleaning with a cloth, remained there. Again, it may clean off, and I honestly can't see a mark of any kind there on the vinyl. There are no wisps of scuffs from the inner bag at all, and generally the record appears near perfect, other than having the light side two scuff mentioned above. It retains a lot of new factory shine. The only other sounds I would mention are definitely from dust and don't annoy me in any way, as I know they can be cleaned off, which is just a kind of light static between tracks, at a very low level, not a crackle. The long keyboard intros, etc. are free of annoyances, and the LP sounds excellent in all respects, with full power and dynamics. I've certainly bought records over the last 40 years that sound less good than this when brand new, and I have been very picky. I listen through Dynaudio speakers and Yamaha NS10 studio monitors and, as mentioned, have produced, mixed and mastered records professionally. I have even mastered a record from an original vinyl copy to digital for release by Sony, as the master tapes were lost, and I know the standards required in audio. Having said that, this LP is not totally perfect, but is generally excellent, and very listenable and enjoyable. If the side two track one light scuff is an off-putting concept maybe you should not bid, but if you did bid and win and were not happy, I would refund the purchase price. I will amend the listing to include all of this information, to be as fair all-round as possible, and I will grade the whole LP as excellent to take into account the small scuff. It is perhaps not a big problem, but it is there and certainly visually it may not satisfy some collectors, and I will also use the burst of bright weather to check my other listings, as I honestly could not see this mark in bright artificial light! I hope that this has been of use to you! Its a great copy of this classic LP and I enjoyed listening through it again one more time!
