THE ZOO “Presents Chocolate Moose” Rare 1968 Original Psych lp M-

1968/USA/Sunburst Records 7500….. here’s a rare original pressing of this psychedelic gem. The cover is in solid strong VG+ condition, it has a small saw cut top right seam, light shelf/ring wear, light corner dings/wear, two sticker stains left front, top edge of back cover slick is lifted and has a couple of small tears left side, top right corner crease/bend, otherwise solid and clean with no splits. The vinyl is in strong glossyy excellent to M- condition with a handful of near invisible and inaudible hairlines, appears to have been played maybe a couple of times. Clean labels have a couple of light spindle marks. A Very nice copy of this rare Garage Psych lp. Please check my auctions for other psych, prog, and rock lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

Although California-based Zoo managed to produce only a single album during their short career, it is surprising how fresh and relevant this record still is, some 40 plus years on. Formed in 1968 by Murphy ‘Chocolate Moose’ Carfagna, the band also featured Mike Flicker on drums and Howard Leese on lead guitar both of whom went on to join Heart, Leese as guitarist and Flicker as the band’s producer. Chocolate Moose was released in 1968 on Ed Cobb’s Sunburst label (Sunburst 7500) and is far more than just a rock album. Its strong punk and psychedelic tendencies, coupled with a smattering of R’n’B, propel the album with an energetic vitality that is underpinned by Leese’s searing guitar. The album, rare at the time, has now become a major collectors item. Give it a listen and it’s easy to understand why.

GRADING

MINT: I consider New Unplayed or Sealed items only.

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
