Description: The offices of the New York Rocker magazine were said to be the recording place of many demo songs of North Carolina's new wave / power pop legends, The dB's.. including this tribute to the magazine that started it's run in 1976 and covered some of the most important artists to come onto the exploding punk/new wave scene. This one of a kind acetate was found inside a plain envelope within a collection of some of the most amazing punk, power pop, and experimental 45s. They all belonged to a journalist who had the NYC music scene cornered; the collection was a complete goldmine. This acetate titled simply "New York Rocker" came from ANGEL SOUND... if you are a collector of rare NY acetates you know the name. The tracks found on here are those of the 38 second infamous New York Rocker magazine tribute song "I Read New York Rocker". There is a brief announcement over the very last few faded-out seconds of the song that says: "Available at better news stands everyyyywherreee". After that there is a brief break and then the song and the announcement repeats. The flip side is blank and shows the extra registration hole used when cutting the acetate (front label covers over it). There is also a very short unlabeled snippet of some sort of lounge jazz track that I can't identify on the start of the 2nd side. Other than that, the rest of the 2nd side is 95% uncut acetate.
The acetate is in exceptional condition given its age and (although I only played it twice) the record's sound quality was fantastic.
