Artist: THELONIOUS MONK
Title: “BRILLIANT CORNERS”
Label: RIVERSIDE. Monaural pressing on medium thick vinyl. Label is (large) blue with silver text, with deep groove. Catalog number is RLP 226.
Year: session: December 1956. early to mid 60s pressing.
Personnel: Thelonious Monk – piano; Ernie Henry – alto sax; Sonny Rollins – tenor sax; Oscar Pettiford – bass; Max Roach – drums.
On 2-3 Clark Terry – trumpet, replaces Henry; and Paul Chambers replaces Pettiford on bass. Also, 2-2 is an unaccompanied piano solo.
Note: This album comes from an extremely well cared-for jazz collection where the original owner cherished his albums, played them once or twice at most, and stored them under optimal conditions. This is a fantastic opportunity for the collector who insists on mint condition.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is gorgeous NEAR MINT, as clean as can be found. The playing surface is immaculate, with a high luster, perhaps played once. Plays flawlessly with superb fidelity. Labels are clean and pristine.
JACKET: NM. Nice bright artwork, clean white reverse, seams and corners are excellent. Address is “235 West 46th Street, New York 36, N.Y.”
