An extremely collectible copy of this rare and highly sought after 1965 folk gem

Formed in 1965, the the Three City Four was a kind of super-group in folk terms, what with Martin Carthy (guitar) and Leon Rosselson (vocals, guitar) in their line-up; the other two members were Marian MacKenzie (vocals) and Ralph Trainer (guitar). Conceived as a vehicle for performing contemporary songs written in a folk vein, by Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Cyril Tawney et al, their original songs were provided by Rosselson, and the group's appearances and recordings tended toward the political, including involvement in the early '60s anti-nuclear movement. They were signed to English Decca at the height of the UK folk boom, and later recorded for British CBS

 Both sides of the vinyl gleam with the original lacquered sheen. The vinyl is totally flat and appears to be in virtually as good a condition as when it was originally purchased. Hold it up in a bright light, and at the correct angle, and it's just possible to detect a very few, small mild paper scuffs and wispy hairlines but these are negligible. EXCELLENT+

The labels are excellent+. Only a couple of very faint and small spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each side prevents the labels as being near mint (or better).

The gorgeous front side laminated outer sleeve is excellent+. All of the edges and corners remain nicely defined with no rubbing or scuffing, as is the spine where all writing remains perfectly legible, and all of the colours have retained their rich vibrancy. No creases either. The opening edge remains beautifully defined with no fraying whatsoever. The only minor blemish is just the hint of some age discolouration on the reverse side towards the edges. But  nothing to  diminish the overall remarkable quality of this long lost folk classic. EXCELLENT+

The audio quality is excellent. Not quite perfect, however, because there is some occasional, very light background crackle and the very occasional light background click but I put this down to a combination of static and dust between the grooves due to fifty years of storage. An excellent listen throughout.

Comes complete with the original poly lined inner sleeve which remains fully functional - no tears or splits, just some creasing towards the corners.

There cannot be many (if any at all) copies of this folk gem which are in better condition than this!

Mint

Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good

Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair 

Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor

Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
