Though Simply Vinyl have built their reputation on issuing classic LPs in luxurious pressings, they handled the only (very limited) vinyl pressing for the Tindersticks' fourth album 'Simple Pleasure.' They did their customary sterling work: Thick, expensive card and 180g Virgin Vinyl LP. This listing comes complete with the original plastic wallet and promotional booklet catalogue!

A dark, seedy affair, the Tindersticks lightened up the burden of melancholy with some sweet soul arrangements and inflections through-out Simple Pleasure. Whereas before the abrasive violin and guitar work recalled a subdued Velvet Underground, here the band inject the rhythm section with a shot of Motown and swab it all down with some sickly sweet strings. The result is intoxicating and surprising: it pointed a way out for the band after they played themselves into a stylistic cul de sac.

This LP is outrageously rare and currently OUT OF PRINT. This an original issue, and it comes complete as it would have in the shops: with the original insert, simply vinyl sleeve and catalogue! It's a stunning copy and there is NO RESERVE.

CONDITION OF VINYL: NEAR MINT. The playing surfaces are AS NEW and have NO signs of having been played on a turntable. The heavy, luxurious vinyl is reflective and perfect! I do not grade any opened record as MINT as a matter of principle, but this disc looks like it's never been touched!

CONDITION OF SLEEVE: NEAR MINT. Similarly, the sleeve is near perfect. The edges and spine are perfectly straight and legible. There are no creases, rips, or stains. There are some miniscule dints at the bottom, which are from the factory pressing and are pretty common on new records. The Simply Vinyl sticker on the rear of the plastic wallet is not as sticky as it used to be... but as this is peripheral I wouldn't consider it too important! This LP is sold as if it were NEW... the condition is BEAUTIFUL! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I am an avid collector of many, many genres and keep my records in IMMACULATE condition. I grade according to the Record Collector Price Guide 'Ready Reckoner' and almost NEVER sell anything which is below EXCELLENT condition. Rest assured that my EXCELLENT is bloody EXCELLENT! Oh yeah and I NEVER GRADE ANYTHING MINT THAT IS NOT SEALED!! Near Mint is the highest grading I use for unsealed records.

All records will be sent within two days MAXIMUM of receipt of payment (usually within 4/5 hours of payment received). Your record will be expertly packed in a professional brown mailer, using one or two stiffeners and housed in a PVC 12" sleeve with the record in a paper inner placed outside the sleeve as is standard practice. I've always been lucky when buying records from ebay (save the odd occasion) and would like all buyers of my records to be 100% SATISFIED!
