Description
Here we have TOBY TWIRL, the strangely named UK psychedelic/mod band, with a lovely RARE DEMO!
The songs are “Toffee Apple Sunday” and “Romeo & Juliet 1968” and it’s a Decca 45rpm “Demonstration Sample Not For Sale” number F12804.
It is as rare as a polite child or a ginger tom with a conscience.
It plays BEAUTIFULLY, and I would conservatively rate the A side as a strong VG++ and the B side as a slightly less magnificent VG++ because of a light non-sounding mark from being stored in a paper sleeve for the last 50+ years.
A proper dealer would probably rate it higher.
I have taken some photographs (disc in hand) in deliberately harsh sideways light, so that any tiny blemishes are exaggerated.
As you can see, it still looks pretty darn good, and is very collectable.
The lucky purchaser will also receive a (1950’s?) book, previously owned by Miss Doreen Smith. This features the oddly shaped porcine character from which the band took their name. The book is in well-used condition and is missing a page or two. However, looking inside the cover I see that somebody once paid £20 for it, second-hand. Cripes.
I am not a dealer.
I am just an old bloke thinning out his collection of records before the floor collapses!
The record in the photograph is the record you will get.
You will not get Mr Fuffy, the one-eyed feral cat who always turns up when I’m photographing things for eBay.
Isn't he handsome?
I have described the item to the best of my ability, and everything looks in collectable condition to me, but please check the photographs to decide for yourself.
I DO NOT POST OVERSEAS!
But... if you live outside the UK, I will post the disc to a friend or trusted dealer here in the UK, and you can then sort out further postage between yourselves.
This is because I like my buyers to be happy bunnies. If there is a problem, I like to sort it out personally. I can't do this if you're thousands of miles away.
