~ Record Grading ~

>EXCELLENT (E)Showing only slight wear. Playing surfaces retain much of their original shine. surface noise is minimal. >VERY GOOD (V) Somewhat more worn than an excellent record, slight grayness in grooves, light scuffs or scratches but still a fairly clean copy. some surface noise but but not enough to overwhelm the music. >GOOD (G) Shows considerable wear from use as well as scuffs and scratches from a sleeveless existence. >Plus and minus signs are also used to create a wider scale of grading, ie. V-, V, V+. >Other symbols to describe a records condition ar as follows. (RC)"Rim chip", (NAP) "Not affecting play", (HC) "Hairline crack", (LC) "Lam crack", (DIG) "dig from needle drop".

Final determination of condition is made by listening to any records with visible faults such as stripping or digs to assure they do not affect play. Some records may play much better than one would think by visual grading alone, while another record which looks great may have very poor sound quality. I try to define these conditions to the best of my ability and try very hard to be conservative with grading.
