ONLY COPY ON eBay as of 8-31-2016. I did som research and found that the Discogs site sold a copy earlier this year for $357 plus postage, and previously has sold one for $99 plus postage with a disc VG.
Note: This LP is the originalanalog recording as it was intended by Ash Ra Temple. There have been two CDs reissued but both are not nearly the sound quality of this original album. The first reissue CD was on the Spalax label and is described on numerous web sites as “muddy”. The CD says it is remastered debut it is not. The more recent improvement (a French reissue by This disc is in excellent shape. The cover is nice on the eyes and the price is right. The cover has experienced water damage in the past and ripples. However, because of the LP’s design, the rippling is not that easy to see. Also, there is no staining. Plus, the disc looks like it has never been subjected to any liquid, at all. I wonder if this cover came in contact with some kind of “mist” (like a humidifier)? Looking at the cover, it makes more sense than direct contact to water. Anyway, it is a nice piece and VERY tough to find. Plus, it is a “lone wolf” (the only copy) on eBay.
Stored vertically in a smoke free environment for over 30 years. I picked this up at a Salvation Army on Oahu on my honeymoon. Man, was my wife pissed until I found an box of 25 MINT promo Swan 45s of German language Beatles singles (“Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand” / “Sie Liebt Dich”) still in the original box and paid for the honeymoon. I LOVE this hobby.
Never mind, you prog minded acid lovin’ cats and cattins pony up. This LP is an artifact as well as an iconic era setter.
CHECK THIS OUT FROM THE NIGHT VISIONS WEB SITE: The tale of acid sage Dr. Timothy Leary’s prison escape and subsequent exile is among the most amusing stories in the annals of drug culture lore—though sentenced to an absurd twenty years for utterly petty offenses including possession of a couple of roaches, Leary was able to game the prison system: as a reputable Harvard psychologist, it happened that he himself had designed the psychological examinations he was given by prison administrators to determine his security and work situations. He got himself assigned to a cushy gardening job in a minimum security facility, from which he handily escaped, issuing an outlandish revolutionary screed to taunt authorities shortly after he fled. Via a series of sneaks involving the Weather Underground, the Black Panthers, an arms dealer, and a socialite whom he eventually married, Leary ended up in Switzerland, where he met with the German Kosmiche band Ash Ra Tempel, with whom he recorded the album Seven Up.
With the idea of recording the ultimate psychedelic trip, Ohr label-head Rolf Kaiser next took Ash Ra Temple to Switzerland to party endlessly and to record the album Seven Up with LSD guru Timothy Leary, who was living there in exile. The results were a more song-orientated first section, with Leary singing, followed by several conventional rock songs melded into a single track divided by spacey electronic segues. The title of the LP was supposedly selected because Leary and the band drank LSD from a large bottle of 7 Up while recording the LP.
