Original 1968 lp on Monument (SMO 5027) Tony Joe White – Black & White. Scarce lp that includes several killer tracks several of which have a strong folk funk flavour.In fact one of the tracks on this lp was featured on a folk funk comp a while ago.’Soul Francisco’ has wicked wah guitar chops and organ touches with great vocal from Tony.’Whompt Out On You’ is a super funky cut with tight funky beats and guitar licks with more great vocals.More of the same on ‘Don’t Steal My Love’,Who’s Making Love’ and ‘Scratching My Back’ all with rolling beats,tight wah guitar chops and horn stabs. Then the classic ‘Polk Salad Annie’ that always sounds fresh. Wicked lp with so many tracks for the djs to choose from.Massive folky jazzy funky sound.
