Well here's a big one! Definite original press of Too Def Connection - Running With The Lyrics LP on Savage Records from 1992.

If your looking at this I'm sure you know the deal on this obscure indie that I think reached $1000 last time it was listed...

Condition is Near Mint and free from marks.

'Rolling straight out of Delaware and Philadelphia, Wayne Savage and Phil Taylor become MC Sav and DJ Kid Cut respectively, joining together to form the Too Def Connection. I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say that I had never heard about these guys until I listened to DJ Koco's 'Shimokita House' mix. Track 5 on the b-side of the tape had me hitting 'rewind' again and again. Who the hell was the MC sounding like Tuff Crew's Ice Dog? Even the beats come across like the Philadelphian overlords'.

'You Can't Stand It' utilises King Curtis' 'Memphis Soul Stew' to great effect (even though whenever I hear that break, I expect to hear Tony Montana samples come in, thanks to the Geto Boys' 'Trigga happy Nigga'...) and MC Sav picks up some momentum.
'Comin Off' utilises several well-known breaks, such as 'Ashley's Roachclip', before borrowing heavily from the Tuff Crew for the chorus ("From the south to the west, to the east to the north"). The instrumental of this cut is retitled 'TRK - Comin' Off' and featured on the flipside for some reason.
'Watch 'Em All Take A Fall' uses Kane's line from 'Raw' throughout, while Sav comes off on premium form. This cut would be up there with the title track for the most entertaining vocally:

OK, so it's time for the reason to pick this one up: 'Running With The Lyrics'. Tacking the title cut of the album onto the end is a gutsy move, as if you'd skipped through the playlist you might not have made it quite that far. But the rewards are deep for those that persevere. 'Running...' is a rapid journey through Sav's vocabulary as he keeps up with the pace of the beat - relentless isn't the word for this 6 minute onslaught.
