Description
TOO TIGHT HENRY
1930 Blues – Country 78rpm
Too Tight Henry, aka Henry Lee Castle, was born in Georgia in 1899 and toured widely in the 1920's as part of a trio which also included Blind Blake and Blind Lemon Jefferson.
He was considered a master of the guitar, but the backing on these tracks is pretty simplistic and spare. He only made a very few recordings, and this pair of songs were recorded on October 2, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia. The harmonica is by Jed Davenport on this one, who you might know from Jed Davenport and his Beale Street Jug Band.
He seems to only have recorded twice under this name, and this is the second of those records. This is almost exactly the same time he recorded with Jed as part of the Beale Street Rounders for Vocalion.
