PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. This is the most intense of all Eloy albums...a powerful psych rocker released within highs of the Krautrock scene
Eloy has been most probably of all German progressive bands the most successful one, at least in an international frame. Many times they have been entitled as "German Pink Floyd". They certainly can be considered one of the best German bands of the early 70's. During the band's career they've shown a quite interesting development from progressive heavy bluesrock on their debut over psychedelic space rock ala Floyd into more symphonic type of Prog on their later releases like Dawn, Ocean and Planets.
There are similarities in their 2nd (1974) Lp "Floating" from from their (1973) first, 'Inside', since both albums belong to the same period of Eloy's career. The overall feeling is while 'Inside' is mostly introvert, dreamy and outworldly. 'Floating' has its dreamy parts, too, but overall it's a very intense psych-rock, high-energy project. Those who are looking for the more spacey side of Eloy might get a bit disappointed, but the sheer electric intenseness will surely bring pleasure to ones head. There is, however, one song, the epic fourteen-and-a-half minute 'The Light From Deep Darkness' which contains all the elements of Eloy's music. This is a brilliant composition, with excellent psychedelic organ & acid guitar solos, and, like in the whole album, a very tight and precise drum-bass section. The intensity and amount of music in this early Eloy album is trully staggering. 'Plastic Girl' is not as long as 'The Light...', but long enough to allow space for excellent improvisation. Frank Bornemann's vocals are excellent and nicely blending with the music. Long guitar jams are quite abundant here. 'Floating' is quite adventurous; not as well 'defined' as most other Eloy albums, but with short themes and expanded jams than often have little to do with the main theme. The two guitar-based songs 'Castle in the Air', and 'Madhouse', for instance, change themes and style in dramatic complex movers. The closing guitar solo in 'Madhouse' is staggering. The opening title track immediately introduces the listener to the hard, distorted sound of what's to come, so you have a fairly good idea what to expect after the first track "Floating".
All said, this is an excellent set and if you are looking for hard psych rock with imagination, you need look no further...
