TORTELIER – Signed Dedication – HMV French FALP 696/7/8 – BACH: 6 CELLO SUITES
Original rare 1961 French La Voix De Son Maître mono recordings issued as a boxed set of 3-LPs, catalogue number FALP 696/7/8. Paul Tortelier playing Bach’s Six Suites for unaccompanied violoncello. After 55 years this is still one of the most acclaimed recordings of these suites.
The 16-page booklet (solely in French) was issued jointly for this mono set and the stereo set (ASDF 217/8/9). The inside front page has a hand-written and autographed dedication by Paul Tortelier dated 7th December 1963. (see photo). We cannot guarantee the authenticity.
Sides 1, 2, 3 & 4 have some marks and produce a total of about 15 noticeable/loud ticks plus random very faint ticks. There is lovely warmth of sound and no background noise. Sides 5 & 6 have no visual marks; we have not played them. Textured box is very scuffed at corners/edges.
