THIS LP IS MORE SPECIAL THAN OTHERS AS IT IS ONE OF THE EARLIEST COPIES AVAILABLE AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION.
Very Rare 1970 UK Stereo 'Pink i' Island 1st Pressing 'John Barleycorn Must Die' by Traffic. Complete Original E. J. Day 'Parchment' Gatefold Sleeve!!! Released in Very Small Amounts as A2//B2 1st pressing & Complete with the Ultra Rare Island/UAS (United Artists) Joint Matrix!!!!! and pink labels!!!!
IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AS A GENUINE FIRST PRESSING!
With the very rare UK 1st press matrix of ILPS 9116 A2 and B2 , and the rare second Matrix UAS 5504 A 6.3.70 and UAS 5504 B 6.3.70 plus the word STERLING. This is a real heavyweight pressing and is consistent with the very high Island Pink label standards. The 6.3.70 on the subcontracted United Artists Matrix was the pressing date.
It is the final Traffic album to feature on this famous progressive full pink label!!! This record has a more traditional feel to it than their psych classic debut, especially the traditional title track - but the material is quite mixed. Only six songs feature but all are awesome, when Traffic recorded this gem, they were a tight three piece with Steve Winwood on organ, piano and percussion; Chris Wood on Sax, flute, electric sax and percussion and Jim Capaldi on drums and percussion. Don't miss this rare record, as it sold in miniscule amounts and is rare to find, especially as a UK 1st pressing. The press run of this record on the pink 'i' logo labels was absolutely minimal! It is only usually found on 2nd press pink rim labels, or even later blue labels.
The vinyl is heavy and in very good condition. The bright pink textured labels are in excellent condition without names or writing.
The 1st press brown textured gatefold sleeve printed by the E. J. Day Group is one of the best I have seen and is in EXCELLENT condition WITHOUT THE YELLOWING/BROWNING IN THE EDGES USUALLY SEEN IN THIS RECORD, it only has minor rounding in the corners from storage and a price sticker mark. The spine has feathering and most letters are visible but have been worn out from storage.

Near Mint Cover - Looks virtually new with signs of handling- Minor wear creases but no marks or damage. Light sleeves may show slight discoloration due to age.
Disc - May have minor scuffs &/or hairline scratches caused by moving record in & out of paper sleeve
Excellent Cover - Slight signs of wear on edges/spine, corners or ring wear. No damage caused by sticker removal/residue.
Disc- May have a few superficial marks &/or hairline scratches and paper scuffs.
Very good Cover - Moderate edge/spine or ring wear. Corners may be a little blunt. Opening edge may show feathering caused by removal of record. Visible creases or laminate lift. Localised sticker removal damage.
Disc - Surface marks &/or hairline scratches. Moderate paper scuffs.
Good Cover - Heavy ring or edge/spine wear. Corners noticeable bashed. Heavy creases. Considerable laminate/surface damage.
Disc - Looks very well played. A lot of surface marks/scratches
