Description
Available here is a 12" T.Rex compilation vinyl LP - The Best of T.Rex. It was issued by Karussell/Selecta (probably in 1972) and has the catalogue number SLT 2345 021. Country of origin is not specified and is uncertain.
No country of issue is stated on the label or cover and this item is not catalogued on the Discogs website. Any printed text/language is in English. It appears as if different international versions of this item were released but this one has a totally different cover to the others. Only one previous sale is recorded on Popsike for this particular incarnation and the seller of that item suggested that this might be a far east/Singapore/Malaysia pressing (since confirmed as Singapore by an interested party). The Karussell label is normally associated with Germany, for which there is a 1972 version of this record and with a similar (but not quite identical) catalogue number.
Vinyl Condition - Very Good+ - The record is quite bright and clean - look hard enough and you might find the odd surface marks but there are no worrying scratches. Having listened all the way through I can confirm that there’s no jumping or sticking but the odd light click may be heard. Background crackle/noise is occasional, low level if heard and not overly intrusive.
Cover/Sleeve Condition - Very Good- - Original sleeve with a little edge/corner wear and rubbing and one very small split. Additional minor abrasion marks and stress creasing in places. A label is affixed to the top right-hand corner of the front panel, which might removed with a little care. Plain see-through plastic inner record sleeve is probably as issued.
Synopsis - The album was presumably issued to capitalise on the success of the renamed and electrified T.Rex. The bulk of the material is taken from the first four largely acoustic Tyrannosaurus Rex records, although a single track is lifted from the fifth T.Rex album.
