Description
An original very 1st UK Press of EW on the Fly label. Matrix A2U/B2U - very 1st cut. Etching 'Porky/Pecko Duck'. Please note very 1st pressings should NOT have a revised publishing credit for 'Jeepster'. As EW was 1st released Marc was in the process of a major falling out with his record company and this publishing credit revision is indicative of the worsening relations. Only very 1st pressings, like this one, were pressed BEFORE the revision. 1st issue covers were issued using heavier card and printed by E J Day [like this specimen]. We also have the original inner sleeve. Sorry, there's no poster though...
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks per side, and a small barely feelable one in the 1st half of 'Cosmic Dancer' which does just about sound [see details below]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. These 1st pressings really do deliver this Bolan classic with aplomb - I can't really imagine a better way to take it in. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. A beautifully clean player and there's precious little to find fault with. Even in those quiet acoustic moments just silence in the background. The only issue I could detect, as mentioned above, are five light ticks in the opening moments of 'Cosmic Dancer'. Over relatively quickly and not remotely invasive..Providing you can live with that one minor issue the rest of the LP is guaranteed to knock-you-out!
Cover (Vg+) A super difficult cover to find well preserved due to the way it was printed. Those blacks are often found very worn and scuffed. But this particular example has survived the years in rather rude health. Back and front are nice and flat with only light surface wear - much less than you usually find. There's a couple of creases in the top left corner on the rear, and a couple more top right on the front. Edge wear is relatively light for this title and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is better than average with the text still pretty much legible. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
Inner (Ex-) Lightly aged. But no splits or markings.
