T.S. Eliot -- Four Quartets Set of Six 78RPM Records from 1947
Read By The Author (Recorded under the auspices of the British Council)
A full set of six 78 RPM records (12 sides) of T.S. Eliot reading Four Quartets, issued in the UK by The Gramophone Co. Ltd (His Master's Voice HMV C.3598 - C.3603). These are HEAVY duty, thick shellac 12" 78s.
The September 1947 issue of Gramphone announced the release of this set thusly: Lastly H.M.V. announce a most impostant set of records. These are of T. S. Eliot reading the four long poems recently published together as Four Quartets, Burnt Norton, East Coker, The Dry Salvages and Little Gidding. Most unfortunately these have not been sent for review, but readers will need no more than a hint to acquire what may be the most vital contribution to poetry ever made by the gramophone (H.M.V. C3598-3603)
