Description
Tonight & tomorrow evening I have at auction a number of rare Tubby Hayes, Zoot Sims & The Jazz Couriers UK original LP’s including mega rare TEMPO LP’s.
These albums all belonged to a professional Jazz musician now in is eighties and have been lovingly cared for, all are in at least excellent condition, in fact some could be deemed as “Nr. Mint”
Thisalso one of the rarest of TUBBY HAYES albums and this the even rarer ‘Stereo’ issue named “DOWN IN THE VILLAGE” on the FONTANA label (textured black/silver labels) No. 886 163 TY.
This album, recorded ‘live’ at THE RONNIE SCOTT CLUB LONDON on the 17th & 18 th May 1962, and featured the following musicians.
Tubby Hayes; (Tenor, Soprano Sax & Vibes), Jimmy Deuchar (Trumpet) Gordon Beck (Piano) Freddie Logan (Bass) Allan Ganley (Drums)
Side one of this album starts with Tubby Introducing each of the other musicians.
Tracks; Johnny One Note - But Beautiful - The Most Beautiful Girl In The World - Down In The Village - In The Night - First Eleven.
Vinyl, shows some tiny marks on side one first track (introduction by Tubby) which does give about five very quiet sounding clicks and one louder one, after this it plays EXCELLENT throughout.
Flipback cover, is fully intact, shows light handling /ageing marks on back which also as price written on but then crossed out in darker pen (see scan)
There is the odd scuff around the edge, but spine edge is totally clear and readable.
I do so like to try and get my descriptions correct and not mislead especially on items as rare as this
