A beautiful album, a wonderful follow up to Unicorn. It's all Bolan and Visconti of course, but it's an important transitional album after the departure of Took.
Mickey Finn is there for image only and to keep the Tyrannosaurus Rex name alive, it's a nice collection of songs. Bolan is using more electric guitar (Elemental Child), he was moving with the times. The hippy trippy stuff was losing it's sting and by 1970 Zeppelin, Sabbath and Purple had exploded onto the scene in his own country. I am certain the Stones version of Little Queenie influenced him to write Get It On and the rest is history. The T.Rex album is the final Tyrannosaurus Rex sound put to bed beautifully before the emergence of the Electriic Warrior. Unicorn, A Beard Of Stars and T.Rex is a great trilogy written by an eccentric musical visionary whose unique musical abilties confounded purists and critics, yet has left an indelible impression on rock n' roll history.
