Talk Talk- Laughing Stock 6 track UK LP/Album on Verve Records from 1991

Here is the original 6 track UK LP/ Album Laughing Stock by Talk Talk from 1991. Housed in a card sleeve & released on Verve Records, the Catalogue Number is 847 717-1. The record had been housed within its original printed inner sleeve, which I consider to be quite abrasive (See Condition section). For greater protection, I have put it in a plain lined inner sleeve. The original printed inner sleeve is obviously still included. The track listing is Myrrhman, Ascension Day, After The Flood, Taphead, New Grass & Runeii. I assume the package was made in the UK for UK release as the back sleeve states “P (inside circle) 1991 POLYDOR LTD UK © 1991 POLYDOR LTD UK”. PLEASE NOTE: In order to show as much detail as possible, two pictures have been merged together to create a single image (e.g. different views of the matrix numbers).

Side 1 Matrix: 8477171 A-1-1-1 (6 o’clock)     D  (9 o’clock)

Side 2 Matrix: 8477171 B-1-1- (6 o’clock)     D (9 o’clock)

I believe this information indicates that it comes from the First Pressing run. The Matrix Numbers are described using a clock face. The first part is the main body of the Matrix Number. It will be at 6 o’clock if it is located in front of the label with the writing curving away from me at the ends (as I look) and at 12 o’clock if it is located behind the label with the writing curving towards me at the ends (as I look). Other times give a rough idea of where additional parts of the Matrix Number are located, in relation to the main part. It’s not meant to be foolproof, just to give an idea of where the various parts of the matrix are, in relation to each other.

Condition as follows including photographs: The sleeve is in excellent condition. There is slight wear to the open edge of the sleeve. The inner sleeve is in excellent/ excellent minus condition, due to slight discoloration. The Vinyl is in very good/ very good minus condition. It has quite a lot of paper scuffs to the surface. They are all shallow, but are quite numerous. I consider the original printed inner sleeve to be quite abrasive so have placed the record in a plain lined inner sleeve for greater protection. The record will be despatched within this plain lined inner sleeve, as it’s just an added extra that is not part of the original release. Both sides play through well, with no jumping, skipping or sticking. The overall sound is actually very good. There is slight surface noise intermittently throughout, mostly in quieter passages. I don’t think the sound is invasive & so would not expect it to affect your listening pleasure. I always expect some sound from records of this condition. See below for NOTES ON CONDITION*.

*NOTES ON CONDITION: I grade according to the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide & will not necessarily list all individual points in the written description. There will be a blanket grade for each component (sleeve, record etc), which smaller factors fall into. The general appearance will be clearly visible in the photographs. Please study the photographs in detail as they form the bulk of the description. Please be aware that play grading is based on my interpretation of what I hear on my system only. Although it is an honest assessment, it does not automatically follow that you would reach the same conclusion when listening on your own system, as there are so many variables.
