Original Vinyl Pressing

An all-out classic, years ahead of it's time, and one of those rare moments when I can hold my head up high and say, "I told you so." Mostly ignored by the public, praised by critics, 'Laughing Stock' may yet be accepted as one of THE best recorded works ever made.

Unfortunately, there are drawbacks to this current sale. We may as well be honest: this is not the finest example of said vinyl album. 'Lgughing Stock' was released at a time when vinyl was being all but swept away by record labels; hence, there was little care of the standard of vinyl and/or the pressings on which their albums were made, and so the album was released on wafer-thin vinyl to begin with, complete with ready-made crackles on the quieter moments. Plus, there are a number of lines on the vinyl itself. Minor lines, no deep scratches, but the quieter moments do suffer with extra crackles at times. The cover too, has seen better days. No tears or rips, but there is imprints/ a crease on the front along with a tiny 0.5cm water mark, plus more creases along the spine.

 

Hence, I could honestly grade it G+ for both the vinyl and sleeve. But, for those only familiar with the CD version, the vinyl version is slightly longer, with an extended opening to Side Two, so it's worth it just for that.
