Description
I don't know how many more of these pressing are out there "unopened". But it is my understanding there was only 5000 pressed in this UHQR edition. ( I honestly don't remember being told of this 5000 pressing number at the time, but its been some 30 years ago so I'm not surprised that I wouldn't remember. I have read, on the internet, this 5000 number is claimed.) Since first listing this LP I have been trying to confirm the number of pressing of this UHQR disc. I would very much like to thank fellow eBayer "Beaner Bob" for this contribution to that search. He sent me the following email.
(Dear amankins,
This is from "a former Telarc Employee"
"What I remember was establishing that Telarc would not press more than 5000 of the UHQR release, and didn't as the demand for it was low. Telarc had already saturated the market with the standard version which was very well pressed, though not 180 gram. No one in Germany or the U.S. (including a recent attempt made 4-5 years ago at Record Technology in CA) could press a 180 gram version of this because of how deep the canyons (grooves) were and how hard it was to fill them properly--hence they were made in Japan. There are no records left of how many Telarc actually sold but if I had to guess, I would say it was at most 3500, and could have been less."
I personally have not seen any with a serial number over 1000.) Again, thanks Bob. One of the best known and best recorded LP's of all time. With live cannon and bells, track it if you can! Currently I have several Telarc LP’s on eBay. All of these LP’s are new, sealed and are very early pressings. In the late 70’s and early 80”s I worked for Audio-Technica. A-T was the sole importers of Telarc records to this country at that time. As such we were sent the first pressing of new records to demo to dealers and to take orders. Often I got 3-4 copies of each album. I realized early on what great recordings these were and socked away some of my favorites albums. Sometime several copies. I have about 50 such records, again all are new, sealed and were put away in 1978-1983 when I first received them. Well it's time to clean out my closet. If you do not see the album you are looking for email me and I’ll see if I have it. I’m not listing all my albums right now but would list on eBay any album I do have if I know there is an interested party out there. All LP’s will be packed in boxes design for LP’s made of corrugated cardboard. I will give reduced shipping rates on multiple LP's purchases.
