Description
This is one of the Classic Records 3LP 45rpm limited edition remasterings of one of the classic RCA's. Legendary violinist Jascha Heifetz is the soloist with Fritz Reiner conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in this blazing performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. Virtuoso violinist, virtuoso conductor, virtuoso orchestra all make for one of the great recorded performances of the piece in this 1958 recording. The 45rpm remastering gives each movement it's own single sided record featuring expanded dynamics & lower background noise than even the classic Shaded Dog. Classic Records remasterings are somewhat controversial; while many feel that the sound is not exactly the same as the original release, there are just as many who feel the remasterings are a more faithful reproduction of the original master tape. In any case this is a great performance by great musicians in great recording.
