Description
This 4 LP set entitled "Techniques and Use of Shamisen" is something of a pedagogical collection of all things shamisen.
It gives 88 examples of every conceivable style and genre in which shamisen is played, from old Edo period music to
minyo, nagauta, gidayu, jyuta, houta, kouta styles...eveything...except Tsugaru. This is because Tsugaru is a purely
instrumental style, and this collection focuses on shamisen use in songs or singing genres.
There is a brief Japanese spoken introduction to every track informing the listener which genre the following song
belongs to. These 4 records will give you a complete and deep look into the various shamisen styles.
Covers: EX but #3 has a bend in lower right corner.
LPs: EX++ All 4 records are nearly perfect, shiny and look almost right out of the sleeve. Play perfectly.
These are "sample" records put out by King Records Japan and I can't see any date of issue but I am
guessing late 70s or early 80s.
