Description
Deep groove, original. Charles in vibes, accompanied by Peter Urban, trumpet; Gigi Gryce, alto sax; J.R. Montrose, teor sax; George Barrow, baritone sax; Don Butterfield, tuba; Jimmy Raney, guitar; Mal Waldron, piano; Teddy Kotick, bass; Joe Harris, drums (on 3 tracks Sol Schlinger replaces Barrow on baritone sax) Complex arrangements. Cover: VG+ or better. Small piece of filament tape across spine (possibly as an indicator, rather than repair). Possible radio station call letters written time on the upper margin of the back cover. A small amount of corner wear. Some aging and some soil from handling on the back cover. Gloss front cover. Impressive cover art by Burt Goldblatt. Record: VG+. Visually the record shows no wear. There are several surface rub marks and indications from spindle marks in the label that the record has been played a number of times. Still the vinyl is clear and shows no marks other than described. There is a muffled sound on track 1, side 1 on the 1st 1 or 2 revolutions. On side 2, track 1, there are a few crackles on the first several revolutions. There are some crackles and clicks on the record but most of the record is free of surface noise except as noted. Audibly checked.
