Description
This is a factory test pressing from 1964. I discovered this in a collection of classical test pressings and factory samples. I already have Alcina on LP so decided to offer it for sale.
I believe it to be a unique item. Perhaps it will be of curiosity interest to Rolling Stones collectors?
I have identified the content and positively confirmed both matrix numbers against the commercial releases.

The condition is very good, I have played it fully and there are no skips, but it would benefit from proper cleaning as there is some minor surface noise. Since I owned this record it has been lightly wiped and housed in a cardboard sleeve with an antistatic inner sleeve. The original sleeve was plain white paper. It will be included alongside for completeness.
Also I should add a note that "Handel" is written on the blue label in blue ballpoint pen, which you should be able to see in the scan. It is only barely visible and I hadn't actually noticed it until I scanned the record.
These sort of test pressings are often one-sided, sometimes with a tone track on the reverse, sometimes blank. I have seen other examples like this one on the same label which have mixed content like this. I assume that one possible reason would be to save waste by using the reverse to test other recordings, or perhaps it was just a case of whatever stamper was hanging around was used to stamp the reverse. I assume a plate of some sort, blank or otherwise, is needed both sides to actually press a record. In any case they make interesting items for collections and are rare survivors from the manufacturing process.
