Description

Thank Your Lucky Stars, Rolling Stones, UK DECCA MONO

Thank Your Lucky Stars, Vol. 2.

Early 1960's Beat/Pop compilation LP.

Original 1963 UK pressed Decca Records mono LP, LK 4554. Early red and silver grooved label issue with 2A/1A matrix suffixes.

Visually vinyl in strong very good plus condition. A fair few spider trace marks visible at centre spindle areas, but not to the point of wear. Surfaces still have a rich and bright gloss, although display a few light hairline marks and scuffs, some of which are more immediately visible. There are no really deep scratches however. General appearance is of an enjoyed but fairly carefully played LP.

Playback is surprisingly clean and bright. The surfaces are nice and quiet and there is no background crackle. Sound is rich and bright and not distorted. The odd very low level and isolated tick here and there, but these really are extremely few in number and do not detract at all from listening pleasure. There are just a few very soft level continuous ticks heard at the end of Foot Stomp and into the beginning of The Ice Cream Man, although these do not detract significantly from listening pleasure.

Labels have a good appearance still, and neither has any damage, stickers, inscriptions etc.

Inner sleeve is not original, but a generic Decca replacement should not be hard to locate.

Outer sleeve is in mostly very clean and bright condition. Front and rear panels are free of pen or sticker marks. A couple of minor hairline scrape marks to rear, else rear is very clean with just light age browning to extremities. Front laminate has a few half moons and pinch creases near spine area. Small crease to top left hand corner. Else front still very bright and clean, and laminate is not peeling. Entry side still well defined and not feathered. Tips and extremities are in good order, and there is no fraying or seam splitting.

A Note On Grading:

Note that audio grading is subjective and based on sensitivity of equipment used for playback. In this instance playback has been tested on a vintage Technics Quartz Direct Drive SL1700 MKII turntable with Shure cartridge, Technics SU-C 03 amp and Technics SB-F2 Linear Phase speakers.

Also note that I generally do not clean vinyl unless so noted. Most vinyl will show improved playback quality with your preferred cleaning method, but I leave this to the prospective buyer, as controversy still surrounds the ideal method of cleaning vinyl. Instances of crackle near the beginning of sides can often be improved with cleaning, as these areas of the vinyl surfaces are the most prone to debris from handling.
