Beatles For Sale STEREO PCSO 3062.
This is a very special copy of BEATLES FOR SALE on the first pressing label with banner stereo, AUSTRALIAN release dating from February 1965. The tracks are the same as the UK LP but the cover is very different.
The fragile mono/stereo dual purpose cover is in EXCELLENT condition. This LP had a special front cover unique to Australia of The Beatles performing in Sydney in June 1964. The stereo black and gold sticker wrapped around the front and back cover is intact. This differentiated it from the far more common mono LPs. The spine is still clear and intact, amazing given the fragility of the thin card. The back has double flipbacks. There is visible ringwear and it’s showing signs of discoloration after nearly 50 years. On the front there is evidence of a small circular price sticker removed from the cover but this has not removed the surface of the cover. Also ‘21’ is written in very small figures on the rear at the top left hand side, just under the flipback. Overall it is a remarkable example to have survived the years so well.
The VINYL is beautifully preserved. It still has a nice clean sheen and displays very minor surface marks only. On playback it sounds crystal clear with virtual silence between tracks. I would rate this as EXCELLENT PLUS. The beautiful old style Parlophone label with the ‘stereo’ banner in silver and black was a feature of Australian stereo LPs up to 1969. Both labels are clean and clear and have very few spindle markings, however side 1 does have the number 600 handwritten at the top but this is only visible when tilted towards the light.
The disc shaped polythene inner bag is, as far as I know, the original or like the original, as these inner shaped bags were standard issue in Australia.
Overall a rare record in excellent plus condition. This is a very collectible and keepable Beatles LP.
