This week I'm auctioning a batch of selected LPs. I have done my best to present and describe the albums accurately. I've spent several years doing a deep research dedicated to classic rock records so all the information collected about a particular album is listed below. I'm not going to call any record "megarareprereleaseearliestpossiblematrixnumberstamperscopy" just because it's the record I'm selling at the moment (like some sellers, sadly, do). Below you'll find just pure facts.

The BEATLES CHRISTMAS ALBUM rare USA LP in great condition, with SF BELL SOUND and Winchester plant "rifle" logo in the run-off.

Few people realize how hard it is to get a guaranteed original USA copy if the Beatles' Christmas Album. Of 50 copies you'd find only one or two would be TRULY authentic ones and you'll hardly get one in decent condition for less than $300.

Currently I see several copies here on ebay (priced up to $200) advertised as "original" or "authentic" including one offered by a so-called "reputable" seller but IN FACT THEY ARE ALL FAKES!!!!!

Offered here is A CONTERFEIT copy - but it's the best counterfeit I've seen, honestly presented in all its details and the starting price is absolutely reasonable.  If you miss this album in your collection this copy is a perfect one to fill the gap if you're not going to invest $300+ in this album

Pressing details.

Record/label

The copy offered here has ALL THE LABEL PRINT EXACTLY AS ORIGINAL. The main difference between this copy and an authentic one is the mounting ring (or pressing ring) size. This ring as you can see it on any record is an impression of the mould of the record press which holds the stamper. Obviously different record pressing machines were equipped with different moulds, this results in variations of the records' label area profile. Authentic Christmas Album copies have a SMALL PRESSING RING 37-38 mm in diametre. This is the main feature of a "real" copy.

The copy offered here has a large pressing ring, 70 mm approximately. Some specialists refer also to "blurred" label print on counterfeits but this copy's label print I cannot call "blurred", it is absolutely natural for late 60-ies - early 70-ies record labels.

Matrix numbers, other run-out info

Side A: SBC-1-100 A.!. Bell Sound SF - ?

Side A: SBC-1-100 B.!. Bell Sound SF - ?

All the run-out markings of this copy are exactly as on an original pressing, including the matrix number, the Bell Sound and SF stamps and even the - ? symbol which denotes the Capitol pressing plant in Winchester (this is actually a symbol of a rifle).

It's really amazing how the manufacturers of this counterfeit copied all the run-out markings so perfectly!

Cover

The cover of this album gives us another possibility to tell an original copy from a fake. Original covers have "THEATRE ROYAL" visible under Lennon's head on the 2nd picture in the bottom row. This writing is not CLEARLY visible (I had an original copy in my hands and was able to read the "magic" words with a help of a magnifying glass only but I COULD read it). Another feature is Ringo's left eye (picture 1, bottom row) which is visible on original covers only.

On this copy's cover Ringo's eye is not visible. As for "THEATRE ROYAL" - you can see some letters definitely but they are not readable. Obviously it's a fake cover but a good and early fake as otherwise it's identical to original including and all the printing, colours, construction type, etc.

Inner sleeve

Authentic USA early 70-ies plain die-cut inner sleeve is present.

Condition

The cover is highly presentable and is SOLID EXCELLENT. The front is about perfect with only one wrinkle. The rear panel has just a tiny hint of ringwear, no actual ring. There's some light wear at the corners.

The record is Near Mint visually, nothing to talk about other than a couple of sleeve removal hairlines.

There's no big use discussing playback quality as long as audio has been transferred from flexi discs and there's a constant corresponding "background" throughout the whole album. Same "background" is heard surely on original, authentic copies. Other than that there's no extra surface noise on this copy, no clicks or pops. Near Mint.

Treating records

I always treat vinyl records with the greatest care - just because I love them. All the records I sell have been cleaned professionally with the isopropyl alcohol based solution and placed in brand new deluxe German made poly-lined inner sleeves. Original inners are surely preserved. For further packing I use re-sealable outer sleeves, custom German made LP mailers with cardboard stiffeners and I add extra protection for corners for heavy parcels.
