Ultra rare numbered 1st US 1968 pressing copy of The Beatles, also known as The White Album, with one of the rarest original large Day-Glo red "New! The BEATLES 2 LP's - 30 GREAT SONGS" banner. The sticker also reflects the information that the album contains "GIANT FULL COLOR 23" x 34" POSTER - FOUR 8" x 10" COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS OF JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE & RINGO" along with "COMPLETE LYRICS INCLUDED". The main feature of this sticker is the fact that it's the only one among all of the stickers that can be found on The Beatles album that doesn't list the song titles. Just like the other stickers that can be found on the early 1st pressing of The Beatles album, this sticker is affixed directly to the cover underneath the shrink wrap, whereas the stickers on the later pressings are very often found on the shrink wrap. The Day-Glo Color Corp., founded in 1946, that printed the sticker worked with Capitol Records. One of the first examples of their cooperation were promotional banners and posters during the Beatlemania, for example, 1964 Promotional "The Beatles Are Here!" Capitol Records banner that was sent to record stores and retailers at the beginning of 1964 to promote the brand new group from England. I can't 100% sure whether the information concerning the fact that the red "New! The BEATLES" sticker was used only on the covers of the copies manufactured at the Scranton pressing plant, but all of the copies I've found with this sticker, including the currently listed copy, correspond to this statement. This copy includes all of the memorabilia mentioned on the sticker. The sets of 8' x 10' photos were separated by a blank piece of paper of different colors at the factory, which some copies of The Beatles come with. This copy includes a rare tissue separator of yellow color. 1st print gatefold cover with the embossed "The Beatles" and leading "A", identifying the Scranton pressing plant, immediately preceding the number. Very 1st Apple Records label variation with the Capitol Records logo perimeter print and all of the 7 incorrect song titles, including the rarest of the errors, "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" without the question mark. Original East Coast very early 1st US release Capitol Records Scranton, PA plant pressing. Thick glossy vinyl with the first matrix numbers in the runout groove: Side 1 - SWBO1 -101-J46#3 IAM in triangle; Side 2 - SWBO-2 -101-J45#4 IAM in triangle; SWBO3-101-J47#3 IAM in triangle; Side 4 - SWBO4-101 J44#2 IAM in triangle. The album comes with the original Apple Record plain white inner sleeves.
★
The vintage snow white clean cover is graded as Near Mint Minus only having a few very small light age spots and some very light barely noticeable soling at the corners. The professional storage conditions and shrink wrap have preserved the cover and sticker affixed to it in great condition. The shrink wrap remains fully intact with some light shelf wear. The plain Apple Records inner sleeves are in Near Mint Minus condition. The vinyl is graded as Excellent, with perhaps only Side 1 being in Excellent Minus condition due to a super light three inch non-feelable mark. The vinyl has only a few very light scuffs and marks from the original paper inner sleeves, none of which affect the playback. The glossy vinyl sounds amazing, perhaps only having some super light background noise during some of the quiet passages which is most likely just the static and will go away completely if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All of the memorabilia, including the poster, photographers and separator sheet are in Near Mint Minus condition.
