Description

THE BEATLES - 'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT'
This scarce 2nd stereo pressing of their 1964 soundtrack LP dates from 1966 on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PCS 3058

The side 2 label mistakenly bears the header 'Songs from the film 'A Hard Day's Night' which should only have been on label 1

Otherwise both labels carry the usual 2nd press indicators: the 'Sold in UK...' text & 'The Gramophone Co...' worded rims

Earliest matrix numbers: YEX 126-1 & YEX 127-1

Stamper codes: 2/OR & 2/RR

Disc weight: 163g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover, with a small stereo front indicator

Complete with its original 'Patents Applied For' plain white inner-sleeve

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT +

A superb example of this rare set with only a small handful of spindle trails around each unworn centre hole

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surfaces are extremely and retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shines. Side 1 displays a few light turntable scuffs and a long, non-feelable hairline on side 2, but no further noticeable marks or wear - even when inspected directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp. This fine heavy copy also lies 100% flat on the turntable when playing

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

This great sounding disc has received little more than a handful of plays on good equipment. The sound quality is clean & clear and free from any groove/playwear distortion. The only audible distraction which caught my ear during my playcheck was a hint of light background during 'And I Love Her'. Overall, this is a great sounding copy of one of their finest early stereo recordings

Cover: EXCELLENT

A respectable example of this easily worn cover which retains a clean, high-gloss front panel laminate with just two 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards the front opening edge. There is a small bruise to the upper left corner only and both opening edges are clean, sharp and undamaged. The rear panel is clean & bright with just slight toning towards the opening edge

All flipbacks are clean & fully intact and both seams and the fully worded spine are smooth & undamaged

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Clean, flat & uncreased and no writing or seams splits
