Original Vee-Jay Records pre-release disc jockey promotional copy of The Beatles “Do You Want to Know a Secret? / Thank you girl”, the 2nd of 3 Vee-Jay’s EPs released on March 23rd, 1964. Pressed at the Monarch plant in Los Angeles, this copy has the rarest West Coast picture sleeve with a drop-down die-cut thumb tab. Unlike the majority of picture sleeves of this issue, the picture sleeve of this copy is in brilliant Near Mint (Practically Mint Minus) condition. Original pre-release blue / white Vee-Jay disc jockey VJ 587 labels with a double “Promotional Copy” banner on each side. The Monarch plant pressing vinyl as identified by the “MR in a Circle” stamp and Delta (△) stampers in the runout grooves on both sides. The full matrix numbers including the “AudioMatrix” stamp on Side 1 are as follows: Side 1 – 63-3191 △51070 AudioMatrix MR in a Circle; Side 2 – 63-3219 R in a Circle △51771 URJ MR in a Circle.

Just like the white picture sleeve of the "Please, Please Me and From Me To You" single, which is also listed at our current auction, the picture sleeves of this issue are very often found in a worn-out condition. However, the picture sleeve of this copy is in amazing Near Mint condition and doesn't have any scuffs, tears or creases. It's very clean and doesn't have any ring wear, soiling or writing. I grade the vinyl as strong Very Good Plus. It would be Excellent Minus if it weren't due to some very light non-feelable hairlines, the majority of which are found on the runout grooves. The labels are in Excellent Plus condition. They're very clean and don't have any scuffs, wear or spindle marks, containing just some very small ball pen writing "78" (possibly done at a radio station) at the bottom of each side. The vinyl sounds amazing with a crisp and punchy sound.
