Description
The Beatles' lead guitarist George Harrison sings MY SWEET LORD b/w Isn't It A Pity on this 1970 7" 45 (Apple 2995) MINT- Record & Sleeve. Condition is "used." Ships inexpensively by USPS Media Mail.
This auction is for an interesting record and picture sleeve of MY SWEET LORD b/w Isn't It A Pity, the first single from Beatle George's breakout triple album, "All Things Must Pass" from November, 1970. Both songs are terrific and still get a lot of airplay on Adult Contemporary and in people's homes. In fact, this record, the first #1 smash hit by an ex-Beatle, which sold millions of copies worldwide is not that rare. BTW, in 2014, MY SWEET LORD was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The picture sleeve, however, has consistently been difficult to find in excellent condition (M-), the way it is offered here. Showing only the slightest trace of record impression (the usual fault of this sleeve), it is crisp, free of tears, no crinkling nor writing, and lays flat. The record, also in beautiful Mint minus condition, has "Mfd. by Apple Records, Inc." in green along the rim of Side B, one of eight different varieties of this 45 that exist. I priced it according to Perry Cox's Price Guide to American Beatles Records (2007).
This historic set would be an important (and affordable) addition to the Rare Records section of your Beatles Collection, not only because it is in extraordinary condition for almost 51 years old, but also that scarce Beatles records are always in demand and hold their value remarkably well.
